Fun and Games Armenians at Play
Everyone has a little different idea about what having fun means. It varies according to your age, where you live, and what you and your family did for fun when you were growing up. Project SAVE photographs show involvement in planned and spontaneous social happenings, recreational evetns, and organized, structured, amateur activities like dance and sports.
Fun in the old country centered around family celebrations, church holy days and agricultural events. Weddings were great occasions for fun and occured most often at the end of harvest, giving two reasons to celebrate fertility. There were days of festivities, before and after the ceremony, with food, music, dance, and lots of people. Few photographs of these events exist.
