Documentary kicks off Arlington International Film Festival

Crows of the Desert – A Hero’s Journey through the Armenian Genocide by Emmy Award winning filmmaker, Marta Houske

Kicking off the Arlington International Film Festival Sunday October 7, 2018 at 4:30pm Screening at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown A documentary based on the Memoirs of Levon Yotnakhparian, a brave man’s struggle to not only stay alive, but to help save his fellow Armenian survivors from near extinction in the 20th Century’s first genocide. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Levon Parian, an acclaimed photographer whose work frequently focuses on genocide related issues. He is the grandson of the documentary's hero Levon Yotnakhparian, and published his grandfather's memoirs upon which "Crows of the Desert" is based.


Rare film and photographs as well as recently rediscovered documents have been gathered from archives around the world, to reveal the terror and heroism in this incredible story which took place a century ago in the Syrian desert.
